What material is the Kitchen Hood product made of?
The products are made from natural materials including ground marble, sand, Portland
cement and oxide pigments. They are reinforced with fiberglass and polymer and contain
green recycled product to produce a light-weight, strong, durable and lasting product.
What does the finish look like?
The finish is acid etched to expose the aggregates and sand to create the look of
smooth natural stone. The surface is distressed with veining to resemble the natural
veins you would expect to see in a stone surface.
Is the product sealed?
The product is pre-sealed at the factory with a water-based grout sealer. It is
recommended that you apply an additional coat of sealer after installation is complete.
You should allow time for the grout to dry and the product has had time to settle
after adhesives have dried. You should also make sure the surface is clean before
sealing.
What type of sealer should I use?
There are several sealers you can select from. Your local tile store has knowledgeable
sales staff who can assist you in selecting an appropriate sealer to use with cast
stone products. You should select a sealer that is solvent based, that is penetrating
and transparent. We do not recommend a specific brand but many of our clients have
used “511 Impregnator”, available at Home Depot.
What color grout should I use?
Our natural stone finish (Chateau Beige) is a close match to Polyblend Linen sanded
grout.
Can the product be custom fit to my job?
Our products come in several standard sizes. If you cannot find a standard size
that fits your job, you can order the product one size larger than you need and
modify it by cutting down the pieces to fit your jobsite conditions. On kitchen
hoods the depth off the back wall may not be flexible depending on the exhaust liner
dimension and the location and diameter of the flue pipe. Be sure to read the installation
instructions before ordering, so you understand the scope of work required.
Can the product be used outdoors/outside?
Yes you can use the product outside. If wood framing is used it needs to be located
under an overhang / patio away from the rain.
Do you make island style kitchen Hoods?
Yes we sell the components to assemble an island kitchen hood using an inlay molding
and ¾” x 12” x 48” cladding to be custom cut on the jobsite. Select from 6 custom
inlay moldings to finish off the design.
How do I clean the surface of the product?
First try using warm water and a white terry cloth towel. If more strength is needed
use a 50/50 dilution of water and 409 cleaner. Be sure to clean the complete surface
to avoid spot cleaning.
What are the inlay options?
Inlay moldings are attached to the framing system and the inlays are put in place
to cover the screws. This allows for easy installation of the product. See list
of inlays below.
- Arabesque: A subtle scrolled inlay with floral carving that nicely compliments the
scroll pattern.

How can I get dimensions for my kitchen hood?
Go to the Interactive Builder Drop down menu on the Home Page. Follow the instructions
to design your custom kitchen hood and click on “Show Measurements”.
What dimensions do I need to know for my kitchen hood?
The kitchen hoods come in 6” increments starting from 42”, 48” to 90” wide. The
standard heights are approximately 27”, 36” 48” for 8’, 9’ and 10’ ceiling. The
depth off the back wall is 26”.
If you are using corbels you need to order a width that will accommodate the width
of the corbel without placing them over the cook top, which will interfere with
the cooking surface of the stove top. The exhaust liner size also has to fit between
the corbels. The interactive builder program will accommodate for both the corbel
width and the appropriate exhaust liner size. You can the print the parts list and
present it to your local dealer for a quote.
